I heard recently from Yosiel Alvarez who had made a recent trip to Cuba in June. The conditions there, as expected, were very poor and still getting worse by the day caused by the US sanctions which have stopped supplies of oil and other essentials getting to the island. Holiday-makers have now stopped going there and Trump is warning that Cuba is going to be 'next'.
He said that the most remarkable observation of the trip was the huge abundance of Atlantea perezi all over Baracoa, a species that he had seen before but always in low numbers. 'The butterflies were everywhere and we even spotted a pair in copula, something I don't recall being photographed before! We searched extensively in the spiny shrub host plant Oplonia spinosa but were unsuccessful finding larvae.'

We have only seen one Atlantea perezi before and that was back on 16 June 2016, so some ten days earlier than Yosiel's sightings.
