Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 31-32mm. Sexes similar though males have narrower more pointed wings. Its habit of often settling on the underside of leaves means that it can more easily be mistaken for a moth rather than a butterfly. Closely related to D. galindoensis from which it can be distinguished by its slightly larger size, darker coloration, and its location.
Range: Known only from dry serpentine scrub-woodland and associated gallery forest patches near El Playazo, in the northwestern limits of Alturas de Santa Clara, Villa Clara province, central Cuba.
Status: A very rare Endemic of Cuba.
Nectar Plants: Adults have been recorded taking nectar on Anastraphia cowellii Britton (Asteraceae).
Larval Foodplants: Buxus gonoclada subsp. gonoclada (Buxaceae).
