Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 28-33mm. Sexes similar though males have narrower more pointed wings. Its habit of often settling on the underside of leaves means that it can more easily be mistaken for a moth rather than a butterfly. It most closely resembles D. abscondita and D. galindoensis from which it is best separated on distribution.
Range: Known only from dry serpentine scrub-woodland in a few localities in the serpentine hills in the north of Holguín province, namely La Palma, Ceja de Melones, Cerro Galano, Playa Esmeralda (Bahía del Naranjo) and Boca de Samá.
Apparently sympatric with Dianesia flammata
Status: A are Endemic of Cuba.
Nectar Plants: It has been observed visiting flowers of Croton glabellus (Euphorbiaceae) and Henoonia myrtifolia Griseb. (Solanaceae).
Larval Foodplants: Buxus gonoclada subsp. gonoclada (Buxaceae) (Esnard et al. 2023).
