Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 50-74mm. Sexually dimorphic with females being larger and greyer on the underside. Unmistakable with any other species.
Range: Southern USA to Argentina and throughout the West Indies.
Status: Widespread and often abundant in all open grassy habitats. Can the most numerous species present.
Nectar Plants: Lantana, Bidens, Tournefortia.
Larval Foodplants: Bacopa, Phyla scaberrima, Ruellia blechum, Jatropa, Lippia. Eggs are laid singly on the leaves of the foodplant.
