Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 30-42mm. Sexes similar. Rather moth-like in habits but otherwise probably only confusable with Phaon Crescent Phyciodes phaon which is rather more brightly coloured.
Range: Found in Florida and the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola.
Status: Widespread but local in gardens, open woods and roadsides.
Nectar Plants: Stachytarpheta jamaicensis, Ageratum conyzoides, Lantana, Bidens.
Larval Foodplants: Ruellia blechum (=Blechum pyramidatum) and it has been reared on several other plants.
