Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 42-56mm. Sexes similar. When perched and wings closed up it resembles a dead leaf. Both this species and Antillean Snout Libytheana terena lack the large pale areas on upper hindwings and rear of the forewing of Cuban Snout L. motya. On L. carinenta the upper hindwing is largely dark with an orange band whilst on L. terena it is largely orange and the forewing spots are also orange (white in L. motya and L. carinenta).
Range: Widespread through North, Central and South America.
Status: A very rare straggler to Cuba. where it has occurred on a few occasions on the north coast during winter after northerly winds.
Nectar Plants: Cordia and Tournefortia and on damp ground.
Larval Foodplants: Unknown in Cuba.
