Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 26-32mm. The pale veins on the underside of the wings radiating from the base are diagnostic. Males are orange with a dark border but only have a narrow black stigma on the forewing unlike the otherwise similar Fiery Skipper Hylephila phyleus that has a two broad black marks. Females are slightly darker and have an even darker form f. ammonia.
Range: Regionally endemic. Found only in Cuba and the Bahamas.
Status: Widespread throughout Cuba.
Nectar Plants: Stachytarpheta jamaicensis, Bidens pilosa, Lantana, Morinda citrifolia.
Larval Foodplants: Grasses.
