Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 48-52mm. Previously known as Autochton cellus. The only skipper with a broad yellow band across the forewing.
Range: From southern USA and Florida south through Mexico to northern South America.
Status: A rare straggler to Cuba where there has been just one record, a male, a presumed vagrant from the mainland, in Holguin Province probably during the 19th century (Riley, 1975).
Nectar Plants: Unknown.
Larval Foodplants: On the mainland it uses various peas and beans in the Fabaceae.
