Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 50-52mm. Sexes similar. A large brown skipper with some dark barring and perhaps most easily confusable with Cuban Skipper Burca cubensis though it lacks the three white sub-apical spots of female cubensis.
Range: Mexico to Brazil on the mainland, and the subspecies dilloni is found on Hispaniola and Jamaica, and as a straggler to Cuba. It is found a wide variety of habitats from deciduous forest, mixed pine forest and dry, open xeric areas.
Status: In Cuba it is a very rare straggler and has been recorded only twice at the far east of the island.
Nectar Plants: Eupatorium, Morinda, Stachytarpheta and Tournefortia.
Larval Foodplants: Guava Psidium guajava.
