Description and Similar Species: Wingspan mm. One of the most distinctive species of Calisto. Easily distinguished by the combination of the dark brown background of the underwings combined with prominent whitish yellow edges of the post-discal and discal lines. In addition the hindwing discal line is much straighter than in other Calisto species. Three small white sub-terminal dots on the hindwing. It is sympatric with Bruner's Calisto C. bruneri but that has just two white sub-terminal dots, and Cuban Common Calisto C. herophile which has four.
Range: Endemic to Cuba. Known only from near Hotel Pinares de Mayarí at the western edge of the NSB range of hills in eastern Cuba. The type locality is a dense xeromorphic thicket on serpentinite with the climbing bamboo Arthrostylidium farctum surrounded by pine forest.
Status: Newly described species in 2019.
