Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 50-62mm. Sexes similar though males have longer more slender forewings and rather more orange on the upper hindwing. A. perezi is unlike any other Cuban species.
Range: Endemic to Cuba.
Status: It was thought to be restricted to the hills near Moa and Baracoa with occasional wanderers turning up as far away as Santiago de Cuba. About the turn of the century it was also discovered at Pico Potrerillo near Topes de Collantes in the Escambray Mountains and so is presumably resident there too (Hernández).
Nectar Plants: Chromolaena.
Larval Foodplants: Oplonia cubensis (Núñez).
