Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 30-34mm. A rather dark skipper with sexes similar though the females are darker than the males. Usually settles with closed wings when the faint darker band on the hindwing can be seen. The other useful identification feature is the narrow white edgings to the wingtips though this disappears with wear.
Range: USA to Argentina and the islands of Jamaica, Cuba and Hispaniola.
Status: Widespread throughout Cuba in dry woodland.
Nectar Plants: Tournefortia hirsutissima, Stachytarpheta jamaicensis, Chromolaena odorata.
Larval Foodplants: Various grasses including Panicum fasciculatum and Panicum maximum and Pharus.
