Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 33-39mm. Distinguished from Cuban Calisto C. herophile by having just three post-median white dots on the hindwing, with the central spot enlarged, and no black spot in the anal angle. It also has an enlarged hindwing ocellus.
Range: Endemic to Cuba.
Status: Newly described species in 2019. Known only from the extreme conditions pine forests of the white sand savannas of the mid-west coast near Siguanea on the Isla de la Juventud. The only other species that occur on the island are the ubiquitous Cuban Calisto C. herophile and the Western Cuban Calisto C. disjunctus which are found only in more disturbed areas.
