Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 24-28mm. Sexes similar. The brown underwings have a white L on the hindwings that terminates with a prominent white spot near the leading edge that is distinctive but care should be taken to avoid confusion with Cuban Hairstreak Allosmaitia coelebs but this lacks the second large black spot adjacent to the orange spot on the hindwing. The upperwings are also dark brown but with a central fulvous patch on each wing.
Range: Found only in Florida, Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico and some other Antillean islands.
Status: Widespread and fairly common in hedges and woodland edges throughout Cuba.
Nectar Plants: Coccoloba uvifera, Lantana, Jatropha gossypifolia, Bidens pilosa, Lippia alba, Chromolaena.
Larval Foodplants: Salvia sp. (Labiatae) and plants of Anacardiaceae (Hernandez).
Range: Found only in Florida, Bahamas, Cuba, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico and some other Antillean islands.
Status: Widespread and fairly common in hedges and woodland edges throughout Cuba.
