Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 35-41mm. Sexes similar. The two confusion species with which it flies are C. smintheus in the Sierra Maestra, and C. brochei in the NSB mountains. C. smintheus has a rich rufous-brown background colour which is very different from C. dissimulatum while C. brochei is much larger with barely any size overlap and again has a dark brown background colour with pale scales over the inner portion.
Range: Endemic to Cuba.
Status: Known only from a few forest and scrub forest sites in the Nipe-Sagua-Baracoa and the Sierra Maestra mountain ranges in eastern Cuba between 400-850m.
Nectar Plants: Unknown.
Larval Foodplants: Grasses including Ichnanthus mayarensis.
