Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 26-38mm. Very similar to Banded Yellow Eurema elathea in which the black bar on the rear edge of the forewing of the male is straighter and less extensive. Females of both species lack the black bar on the forewing.
Range: Southern USA down to Brazil and most of the islands of the West Indies.
Status: Common and widespread on roadsides, open fields and gardens.
Nectar Plants: Stachytarpheta jamaicensis, Bidens pilosa and Lippia alba and also on damp ground.
Larval Foodplants: Leguminosae including Desmodium, Stylosanthes and Aeschynomene americana.
