Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 30-34mm. Sexes similar but female slightly larger. Unmistakable but perhaps the closest confusion species is Cuban Crescent Anthanassa frisia with which it sometimes flies.
Range: Southern USA to Guatemala, and Cuba and Cayman Island in the West Indies.
Status: Widespread but local on road verges, gardens and open woods.
Nectar Plants: Bidens pilosa and Phyla sp.
Larval Foodplants: Plants in the Family Verbenaceae. Larva has been recorded on Phyla sp. including Phyla nodiflora (previously Lippia).
