Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 20-24mm. Sexes similar though males have an obvious oval black mark on the upper forewing which is absent in females. This is the only Hairstreak on Cuba to lack "tails".
Range: Found from Southern USA through Central and South America. In the Caribbean it has been found on Cuba, Hispaniola and Jamaica.
Status: Rare on Cuba and seems to be confined to the mountains of the far east of the island in the Sierra Maestra, Gran Piedra and Cuchilllas, often at considerable height but occasionally down at sea level.
Nectar Plants: Lantana, Stachytarpheta and Lippia.
Larval Foodplants: Larvae feed on the buds and flowers of Lantana and Lippia alba.
