Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 28-34mm. Sexually dimorphic. Males are generally dark with two white sub-apical spots, a costal fold and an irregular shaped pale area in the centre of the forewing mid-way along the costa. Females are paler and more patterned with three white sub-apical spots and several other white spots on the forewing also.
Range: Regionally endemic found only on Cuba and the Bahamas.
Status: The subspecies concolor is endemic to Cuba and has a very scarce and scattered distribution and found on the edges of dry forest mainly in the east of the island but also in The Escambray mountains and Matanzas. In 1991 it was perhaps the most common skipper at Playa Alcon near Trinidad on disturbed land dominated by the exotic legume Dichrostachys cinerea (Smith, Miller & Miller, 1994).
Nectar Plants: Tournefortia hirsutissima, Acacia farmesiana, Melochia nodiflora, Bidens pilosa.
Larval Foodplants: Croton monogynus, C. origanifolius and Indigofera tinctoria (Fabaceae).
