Description and Similar Species: Wingspan 37-46mm. Similar to Bruner's Calisto C. bruneri with its pale or greyish scaling and two small post-median white dots on the hindwing (occasionally a third tiny white dot in C. gundlachi), but with a rounder ocellus on the termen of the hindwing.
Range: Endemic to Cuba.
Status: Newly described species in 2019. Known only from xeromorphic thorny thickets on isolated serpentine hills surrounded by limestone in the western Cuban province of Mayabeque. It is allopatric from C. bruneri which occurs only in the far east of Cuba.
Nectar Plants: Unknown.
Larval Foodplants: Unknown grasses.
